A Quick Blanket

A few years back, my aunt, Rose, turned me on to making a quick and easy tied together fleece blanket. Never have I appreciated them more than when my son needed TWO blankets to take to his new daycare for nap time. Realizing I had less than a week to either a) purchase or b) make two toddler sized blankets, I decided to go for the homerun and make a couple of these instead at less than half the price of purchasing two blankets. Sure, part of the savings was that the fleece was on sale, precut for $15.99 at JoAnn Fabrics, but still. I actually got four toddler blankets for that price! My dog has a couple of these blankets too. I know. I'm a sad sad person. LOL!

I am submitting this for Make It From Scratch, but let me tell you. The other participants outshine me every week, and sometimes you just need something quick and easy in your life!

What you need--

  • Two pieces of fleece that is approximately six to eight inches wider AND longer than you want coverage of.
  • A scissors.
Place the two pieces of fleece together-- with the nice side on the outside for both.

Cut 3-4 inch strips in to each of the four sides, approximately 1-2 inches apart. At the corners that means cutting out a square. That's ok.

Tie the two pieces of fleece together all the way around.

Viola! Blanket! The Boy loves his...and so does Ginger! I tie mine quite tight so it bunches a bit. Some like to tie it a little less tight to keep it all straight and square. Bhech. I'm no square! OK. So I am, but not when it comes to this.

I love those blankets! I made a small one for a doll blanket and it was wonderful. I know people who make bed sized ones too. There are so quick and easy.
